« We enjoyed a very warm welcome from Laure, the owner of the Chambre D'hote. The meal that she made for us was very nice. Breakfast was great and was brought to our room. The steam hammam has a shower inside it and is covered with the most beautiful, emerald green tile. There's nothing like being in a steamy room while being pelted with cool water. The owner used to work in the business of making champagne and knows a lot about production, current state of the crop, etc. We weren't able to take advantage of the personal guided tour of a small local champagne producer with her, which we regret. The tour that we had at de Castellane was ok, but we didn't learn nearly as much as we would have with Laure. We would definitely return, but would have trouble staying for too long due to our financial constraints. If you have the money, this would be a great place to stay for a week and explore the region. The owner knows a lot about the region and can recommend rewarding day trips and refer you to the best addresses in Champagne. Stayed July 2011, traveled as a couple »
