The department of Pyrénées-Orientales roughly crosses the territories called Roussillon or French Catalonia. It is crossed from west to east by three parallel rivers, Tech, Tet and Agly. It is also in the Pyrénées-Orientales that Aude has its source. Its highest point is the Carlit Peak (2921 m), but its most famous mountain is Mount Canigou.
