From March, attractions include the Carnival, "fun reaches fever pitch", which is deeply rooted in local history, the fun fairs (big wheel, roundabouts and other fairground attractions) in spring and autumn, the markets, like the newly-opened Marché des Chartrons: the Sunday market where local people buy Bazas beef or lamb from Pauillac, fish from the estuary and seafood from the Bassin d'Arcachon. It’s the ideal place to try the great Bordeaux speciality, canelé, with its subtle blend of rum and vanilla!

Every summer the Estivales of Bordeaux programme provides many attractions and ways of discovering the city. This year, you can visit Bordeaux in a horse-drawn carriage, an omnibus from the Belle Époque, a cabriolet from the roaring twenties, by bus, by boat, or by bike with an audio guide, on rollers…all the monuments are open to the public. For evening entertainment, street theatre groups, storytellers, actors and acrobats are there to entertain and amuse the strolling public!
