Mansio VitAE: this name stands for “My life’s home”, carries a profound symbolism for me. It's a promise. The promise of a new beginning.
After twenty years of living like a globetrotter, carried along by the wind of the hotel business, I've finally found my home. My first real home.
Over the years, I've travelled the world, living in seven different countries, always between two suitcases, sometimes staying in shared rooms, sometimes in impersonal hotels or small rented studios. The life of a hotelier, nothing is your own and you do everything for the guests... until you forget yourself. I've packed my bags a thousand times, but I've never really put down any roots.
My life’s home is the first house that really belongs to me. This house chose me as much as I chose it. Now, for the first time, I'm home.
I've found my home in 2022. From the outside, it looks plain and simple. But inside, it reveals a warm soul and decoration inspired by ancient times.
As a lover of objects steeped in history and a passionate restorer, I set about restoring this building to its former glory. It's slow, painstaking work, sometimes exhausting, but deeply satisfying. Each renovated room is a victory, a space ready to be revived and welcomed, with its own special soul.
Today, my guest rooms are ready to welcome you from 2025. Each has its own private bathroom, unique furnishings, often found at markets or handed down by my family. The youngest object in the house? A chair from the 1950s! If furniture could talk, it would have to say so much... Most of it has been restored by me or by local craftsmen, but others pieces are waiting their turn. So you'll find something new every time you visit.
In the future, when all the rooms are ready, I plan to return to another one of my passions: bookbinding craft and papermaking. That explains the many bookshelves in the house. These books are there for you: to read, to browse, to dream. And if you're interested, I'll be happy to offer introductory courses and workshops in this craft.
I'm far from finished. Fortunately, I still have time before I retire! The projects continue, one by one, with patience and love. But for now, Mansio VitAE and I are here to welcome you, to offer you a calm and rejuvenating stay in the heart of the beautiful region of Burgundy.
Here, you can simply relax: take a walk in nature, read a good book in the living room... or enjoy a glass of wine and let time gently go by.
Welcome to my home.
Welcome to a place of life, dreams... and stories to share.
Welcome to my home. Welcome to your home away from home.
