The Aosta Valley is an ideal destination for LGBT travellers looking for mountains, nature, wellness and Alpine charm. Between Aosta and its Roman remains, Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc, the thermal spa of Pré-Saint-Didier, Gran Paradiso National Park and the many castles scattered across the region, it offers a stay that feels romantic, active and cultural at the same time. The region also has a strong Franco-Italian identity, with Italian and French as its two official languages.

A road trip is often the best way to discover it. You can begin in Aosta, with its Roman theatre, Porta Praetoria and small art-city atmosphere, then continue to Courmayeur to admire the Mont Blanc massif and experience Skyway Monte Bianco, which rises to Punta Helbronner at 3,466 metres. The journey can then continue to Pré-Saint-Didier for a spa break with mountain views, and on to Cogne and the valleys of Gran Paradiso for hiking, preserved landscapes and authentic Alpine villages.

You can also add a heritage dimension with the Fort of Bard, its museums and exhibitions, or with Fénis Castle, one of the region’s iconic medieval landmarks. Stone villages, charming hotels, mountain cuisine, panoramic spas and dramatic scenery make the Aosta Valley a relaxed, elegant and refreshing destination, perfect for a romantic weekend or a longer stay in the open air.
