Bellaugello, our home, is a magical place in the green heart of Italy: a magnificent 400-year-old stone house surrounded by extensive gardens, situated on a sun-drenched southern slope. Our five luxurious individual suites each have comfortable double beds, large extravagant bathrooms, some with double or additional outdoor showers, and some with a comfortable sofa bed so that more than two people can be accommodated. All have a kitchenette, powerful WiFi coverage, a Bose Bluetooth speaker and a private terrace.

Our varied homemade breakfast is served daily on the terrace or in the fireplace room. At least twice a week, we offer an optional dinner with organic products from our garden for all guests. A wide range of restaurants is nearby.

The main house is surrounded by fragrant terraced gardens, clothing is optional - there is plenty of space to chill and relax. Spacious sun loungers are located by our 15x5 m infinity pool, which works with salt instead of chlorine – what better place to get a seamless tan? When it's fresher, the cozy wood-fired sauna and jacuzzi on the panoramic terrace are ready and waiting.

The house and garden are located in the middle of 52 hectares of our forest and olive grove, which guarantees peace and privacy. Gubbio and its historic walls, shopping and dining options are only 20 minutes away by car. In Umbria, you can experience original Italy, enjoy the proverbial hospitality of Gubbio, as well as truffles, game and outstanding wines.

Exciting activities in Umbria include cycling (e-bike/mountain bike rental), ballooning, parasailing, mountain hiking, cave tours, e.g. in the Grotta di Frasassi, white water rafting, horseback riding, golf, fishing and much more. Those who appreciate art, arts and crafts and culture will also find numerous interesting places in the surrounding area.

There are many beautiful circular walks in the Valdichiascio, which is also crossed by the St. Francis Pilgrimage Route. Dogs are very welcome.

Jochen & Kai

We are your hosts

May we introduce ourselves? We are Jochen and Kai, your hosts at Bellaugello since 2024. We are passionate travellers: discovering other cultures, new places and meeting exciting people inspires us. We particularly enjoy experiencing nature and the countryside – on foot, by bike, by dog sled or on skis. This is how we came to know and love Umbria, this wild and unspoilt region of Italy, which is criss-crossed by the Apennine Mountains.

We used to work mainly in buildings: Jochen has a degree in business administration and spent almost 25 years in management consulting, first as a travelling consultant on German and European projects, then in a management position in the human resources department of an international auditing firm. Kai is originally a teacher and was a member of parliament, state secretary and minister for health and social affairs in the federal state of Hesse. A common thread running through his political work is the fight for equality and acceptance of LGBT*IQ people. It goes without saying that we also support the Umbrian queer community.

For almost ten years, we were regular guests at Bellaugello, which became a place we longed to return to: a second home on the slopes of peaceful Valdichiascio, to which we felt deeply connected from the very first moment. A place created for gay travellers, where time seems to pass differently.
Enthusiastic guests became passionate hosts, and now we are following the existing path in our own way, curious to see where it will take us. We know only too well how many people from all over the world love this gem and why they keep coming back here.

We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you here!
