VIlla Barca, a gay owned and operated boutique retreat, has been created as a place where every traveler is welcome.
Some travellers nowadays have a very personal approach when it comes to comfort and privacy. A vacation rental might feel more welcoming for maintaining an "at home” lifestyle than being immersed with other guests in a Bed&Breakfast atmosphere.
VILLA BARCA offers three Apartments as your vacation retreat amidst an old historic Italian country estate. Privacy and space for a calm, restoring and peaceful rest and relaxation-time with just as much or as little personal interaction as desired.
Villa Barca is a quintessential Italian countryside manor house built in the early 1800s. It now hosts a luxury retreat that sits high above the romantic Lerrone Valley. Nestled between the coastline of the Italian Riviera and the peaks of the Ligurian Alps, the gay owned and operated mansion is a perfect enchanted home away from it all. Villa Barca welcomes all guests looking for a wonderful, exclusively inclusive vacation for body & soul. Unlike gay-friendly places we do not simple market to gay guests but are part of the LGBT community. As a Straight-friendly vacation rental you can be sure of a truly inclusive welcome!
Our away from it all location in the middle of nature offers mindfulness and acceptance. Just enjoy life and leave behind the hectic life “down there” in the valley and beyond....
At Villa Barca you feel endless peace.
For the adventurous traveler the area provides a multitude of outside activities starting right at our doorstep. No matter if you look for relaxation or adventure - a stay at Villa Barca won't disappoint you.
Just 20 minutes by car are the sandy beaches of Alassio, one of Italy's most mundane seaside resorts. The Lerrone Valley offers all kinds of outdoor activities, from hiking and mountain biking to laid-back picknick hours. For the more leisurely tourist the Ligurian coast shows itself as a true treasure box: cozy little seaside towns, steep mountain passes that lead to old, medieval villages and the famous Via Aurelia that brings you straight to the chic Corniche of France's Cote d 'Azur, where you can explore along the road famous places like Menton, Monte Carlo and Nice.
After a day full of activities VILLA BARCA awaits its guests with the unique atmosphere that this retreat has to offer. The Villa sits on 15.000 square meters of Mediterranean garden and olive growth. On clear days we can see across the Mediterranean sea and look as far as La Spezia and Cinque Terre on the other side of the Golf of Genua.
A unique part of Villa Barca is the old church that sits adjacent to the main building. Erected in the 1700s and modernized by the original owner of the Villa it is now hosting our "room of stillness". A quiet place to meditate, practice Yoga or just enjoy the luxury of tranquility. You can also schedule energy treatments such as Reiki and other holistic treatments during your stay to enhance the perfect balance of body and mind.
Relaxation with a view: That’s what our guest can expect in our tranquil sauna-garden. Whether dozing in the sun, taking a refreshing footbath, an energizing shower in our grotto, or soaking in our plunge pool - you will always have commanding views of the valley down to the Mediterranean sea. A perfect place to just enjoy life and let go. For colder days our Finnish sauna along with some herbal infusions will make you feel revived and rejuvenated.
MAIN VILLA - IL GIARDINO
Bees hum in the garden on a summer’s day as the French doors open wide inviting the smell of lavender and rosemary to enter the bright and cozy rooms. Summer, or any season is embellished by the changing beauty of this garden from month to month and because of this our second suite is named after our garden, Il Giardino. This lovely room includes a small kitchen inviting you to cook the little delicacies that you may have enjoyed selecting at the local farmer markets and small shops in the valley. The table for all these good things can then be set in the small garden under the branches of the ancient stone oaks. On cooler nights, the small fireplace in the bedroom provides cozy comfort and a nice, romantic atmosphere.
LA FORESTERIA SUITES
Only a few steps from the main Villa, walking through the enchanted honeysuckle pergola you will reach the old caretaker’s cottage, situated within our historic country estate. Based on the original blueprints of a humble, Ligurian adobe we have created a wonderful, traditional home built from regional stones. Opulent French doors and windows enjoy spectacular views towards the Mediterranean Sea and sometimes even beyond to the coastline of Cinque Terre.
Two tastefully furnished suites will offer our guests comfort, space and privacy to enjoy their vacation. As the sun rises, the Foresteria is illuminated by the golden glow of the first rays which you can enjoy right from your comfortable bed. Wonderful paintings created at Villa Barca by German artist Heidrun Brocker accent the walls and pull in the ever-present nature as the main focal point.
The Foresteria-suites feature well equipped kitchens, inviting you to cook the sumptuous delicacies that you may have found at the local farmers markets or in the small shops of the valley. Start your day indulging in the breathtaking views in the privacy of your own patio. Even during cooler times you can enjoy the vista from behind the panoramic windows while sitting next to the comfortable pellet fireplace
