According to the Alsatian historian Francis Rapp, “Alsace has three great treasures: Strasbourg Cathedral, the Isenheim Altarpiece in Colmar and the Humanist Library of Sélestat.”
In building our hotel on the foundation of Rhineland humanism, we wanted to share our values, while bringing us closer to the famous Humanist Library of Sélestat.
In greater depth, our thought process pushed us to develop a rather modern idea of this thought movement. We have distanced ourselves from the representation of the Renaissance to resolutely enter the 21st century.
All our rooms thus place the accent on the great modern-day humanists:
Gandhi, Simone Veil, Nelson Mandela, Abbé Pierre, Martin Luther King and Élie Wiesel.
Each of these devoted their lives, in their own way, to combatting oppression, inequality and injustice, by placing mankind and human values above all other values. These humanists had the sole objective of seeing humans flourish and respecting their dignity.
