Jardin des Remparts ist Ihr ideales Reiseziel, wenn Sie einen ruhigen Rückzugsort suchen, der trotzdem zentral genug gelegen ist für eine spontane Erkundungstour durch die Umgebung, wenn immer Ihnen der Sinn danach steht.

DAS HAUS

Unser Haus ist über 250 Jahre alt und ist in seiner Ursprünglichkeit erhalten geblieben. Während zwei Jahren haben wir es renoviert, so dass es nun wieder in seinem alten Glanz erstrahlen kann. Gleichzeitig haben wir es modernisiert und es mit neuen Badezimmern, Elektroinstallationen und WLAN ausgestattet.

DER GARTEN

Hinter dem Haus befindet sich der weitläufige, fast schon parkgroße Garten, der sich bis zur alten mittelalterlichen Stadtmauer des historischen Stadtkerns erstreckt, daher der Name "Jardin des Remparts". Hier finden Sie sowohl sonnige als auch schattige Plätzchen und sind vor neugierigen Blicken geschützt. Auch textilfrei durch den Garten laufen und sich im 2,4 Meter tiefen Pool abkühlen: kein Problem, hier sieht Sie niemand. Sie haben Urlaub und wir möchten, dass Sie ihn genießen!

Verpflegung

Abends kochen wir für Sie auf Wunsch ein traditionelles Menü aus regionalen, frischen Produkten vom Markt. Das Abendessen beinhaltet eine Vorspeise, ein Hauptgericht, ein Dessert sowie ein Glas Wein und einen Kaffee für insgesamt 22€ pro Person. Bevorzugen Sie vegetarische Küche oder haben Sie Lebensmittelunverträglichkeiten? Kein Problem, geben Sie uns einfach Bescheid.

Orthez

Unser Haus befindet sich im Herzen von Orthez, im historischen Kern der Stadt. Der Jakobsweg (Voie de Vézelay) führt hier direkt vorbei. Orthez ist die ehemalige Hauptstadt von Béarn und hat eine lange und reiche Geschichte. Spazieren Sie durch die Stadt und entdecken Sie Sehenswürdigkeiten wie den Aussichtsturm "Tour Moncade" und die historische Brücke "Pont Vieux". Sie können die ganze Stadt zu Fuß erkunden: Restaurants, Geschäfte, Cafés. Der Bahnhof ist 10 Gehminuten entfernt. Von hier aus erreichen Sie nicht nur alle wichtigen regionalen Zug- und Busverbindungen in den Südwesten Frankreichs und an die Atlantikküste, sondern reisen auch innerhalb weniger Stunden mit dem TGV direkt von und nach Paris ohne umzusteigen.

Abenteuerlustig?

Typische Béarn-Dörfer wie Salies-de-Béarn, Sauveterre-de-Béarn, Navarrenx sind leicht per Bus zu erreichen. Auch am Strand von Biarritz sind Sie innerhalb einer Stunde Autofahrt. Sportbegeisterte können in den Pyrenäen wandern, ebenfalls eine Autostunde entfernt. Oder fahren Sie nach Spanien, um Tapas und Pintxos zu essen oder Rioja zu verkosten... ebenfalls nur - Sie haben es erraten - eine Autostunde entfernt!

Etienne & Kevin

Wir sind Ihre Gastgeber, Etienne und Kevin, zwei Männer, vier Nationalitäten, fünf Sprachen. Wir haben 2021 Deutschland verlassen, um uns in Orthez niederzulassen. Der aus der Region stammende Etienne begeistert sich für den Südwesten und möchte seine „guten Tipps“ mit Ihnen teilen.

« Le jardin des remparts is a great place to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Only a short walk up the street and up a small hill to the Tower put an immediate smile on my face because of the beautiful setting. It was just the place to enjoy beautiful views of the Pyrenees on a good weather day. The B&B is in a quiet location and with clear directions from Mr and Mr Fons, it was easy to find our way around. I think as a lesbian couple of women enjoying a long weekend, it felt safe during the day and was a lovely place to hang out in during the day. The garden has a vegetable patch, recycling and composting which takes minimal effort but makes you feel good about the eco footprint, as does knowing that a lot of the food is sourced locally including from the market. The room we stayed in had it’s own en-suite which was modern and had a booster heater so you could choose when to heat the shower room. The small touches of extra pillows and blankets and access to an ironing board added to the comfort. Also extra extension leads helped us to work away from home. I chose this place to write some of my Memoir. Being able to think somewhere quiet without noise when you live in a city, isn’t something you can really put a price on, but as price is important, the value for the price was very good. Looking forward to exploring the nearby towns a bit more next time. »

« I wanted to go somewhere where I can relax and unwind for a week. Jardin Des Remparts is the place as it’s my second stay, it’s easy to get to, you can travel to other places from there. I had the Gaston room which is fabulous and very comfortable. Etienne and Kevin were wonderful making sure I was accommodated. Orthez has a couple of nice restaurants but if you want ‘table d’hôte’ meal, I’d recommend it as Etienne is an amazing cook. I plan to return there again when I need to recharge my batteries! Thank you. »

« We stayed for 2 nights in this beautiful renovated house in the center of Orthez. A quiet place with a wonderful garden and swimming pool. Etienne (Kevin was in the States) is a very good host. Very communicative and friendly. We felt at home there. He also is a good cook, so out stay was a great success. We only can recommend it. From Orthez you have enough possibilities to visit other places. We will certainly come back »

« I recently had the pleasure of spending three nights in this delightful house, half of which has been expertly converted into a bed & breakfast. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are generously sized, all impeccably clean and well-maintained. Orthez, the town itself, is a charming location offering a range of delightful restaurants and picturesque walks, all with the backdrop of the stunning Pyrenees. Kevin and Étienne, the hosts, are truly exceptional. Their helpfulness and readiness to accommodate any request were remarkable, making my stay even more enjoyable. Moreover, I also cherished the serene moments spent reading my book in the tranquil garden, and the refreshing dips in the generously sized pool. This place is a true haven of tranquility and I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a peaceful and rejuvenating retreat. I’m definitely coming next year again :) »

« Le Jardin des Remparts est idéalement situé, au cœur du quartier historique d’Orthez et à 5-10 mn à pied de la gare tgv, Nous avons pu nous y reposer et ressourcer grâce aux bons soins de nos hôtes : accueil chaleureux et bienveillant, repas copieux et goûteux, une chambre spacieuse et confortable, à la décoration soignée. Piscine très appréciable, entre deux sorties en ville ou dans la campagne environnante. De vraies vacances , merci Kevin et Etienne ! »

« Le Jardin des Remparts : que dire ! J'ai passé un très agréable séjour du 21 au 26 août 2023. Le cadre est magnifique. Les chambres sont reposantes, destressantes, très confortables, et très propres. Quant à la literie c'est une merveille. Les petits déjeuners sont très copieux, les repas de la table d'hôtes le soir sont très copieux. Tous les plats sont frais, et fait maison, avec goût et soin. Cette salle à manger est belle accueillante et il y a un tableau qui est magnifique. La piscine : Je n'ai jamais vu une piscine aussi propre. L'eau est claire, chaude, et très agréable pour les bains du soir après une grande journée de chaleur.. Étienne et Kévin sont aux petits anges ils vous donnent de très bons conseils pour les balades et les restaurants à Orthez . Ils sont d'une extrême gentillesse et font attention aux clients. C'est la première fois que j'y allais, j'y retournerai avec plaisir. Croyez-moi vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés. Je vous souhaite un très bon séjour dans ce cadre magnifique. Thomas août 2023 »

« Un lieu charmant et des hôtes très accueillants pour une étape à Orthez qui aurait mérité une plus longue halte. La maison est magnifique et sa rénovation récente se révèle respectueuse d'un patrimoine exceptionnel où l'on se sent comme chez soi. Tout est ici sérénité et cette vieille demeure de caractère exprime une identité et un esprit. Le jardin se découvre progressivement jusqu'à la piscine idéalement située en surplomb de la ville. Nos hôtes ont été très attentionnés dans leur accueil et leurs conseils. Le repas partagé s'est révélé de qualité avec des produits frais et locaux parfaitement accommodés. Merci à Etienne et Kevin pour cette étape réussie sur le chemin des vacances! »
