Explore the area:

People who venture to our part of the Loire Valley enjoy a less frenetic life.  You can discover unique cave-houses, forests, sleepy villages, and historic towns full of charm and surprises.

For a great day out, you can explore the enchanting chateaux that line the river Loire.  Many have been restored to their former regal glory.  Famous castles in the area include chateau d'Amboise, Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau, Langeais, Villandry and Azay-le-Ferron.  Most are within an hour’s drive with the furthest, chateau de Chambord, an easy 1 hour 30 mins drive.

Or you can simply relax and enjoy some good food and wine in the local area.  Here in the southern Touraine you will taste with happiness the local specialities, like goat's cheese from Sainte-Maure, the potted pork called Rillettes, or the famous little black chicken, La Geline.  And not forgetting alongside its Vouvray, Chinon and Bourgueil wines, Touraine boasts nine appellations d'orgingine controllee (AOC) including Sancerre and Montlouis.

Food and Drink:

You can dine in-house with us if you book in advance.  Or nearby there are several excellent restaurants to choose from; including the Michelin rated La Promenade (well worth a visit), and other local restaurants Chez Grand Ma, Savoie-Villars, Chez L, and La Claise. There is a great bar in Loches called Le Caravage.

About us:

We are Steeve and Mikael. For two years we searched for the perfect Loire Valley retreat. A special place where our family and friends would love to stay. A place where, when you arrive, you smile and feel all warm inside. That place is 15th century chateau de La Celle-Guenand.

We've been up and running as a Bed and Breakfast since 2009. We have three Gites for weekly rent too. We do not have any staff (apart from our wonderful cleaner), but we are usually on hand throughout the day should you need assistance.

We now invite you to share in our unique way of life on offer here in France!

We stayed over the weekend. It was so relaxing and enjoyable. Just what we needed. The chateau is old and rustic and full of charm. Our room was large and comfortable and we slept amazingly well. We took breakfast on the terrace and strolled in the gardens in the evening. Our host Steve was very friendly and helpuful. He arranged the restaurant bookings and he even took us to La Promenade in his real London taxi so we could have a drink - what a treat. If you find yourself in this part of France, we highly recommend a night or two at this special place.
