Bequeathed to France's Académie des Beaux-Arts by the artist's son Michel in 1966, Claude Monet's property at Giverny has since undergone major restoration under the supervision of Gerald Van Der Kemp of the Institut de France, with the assistance of head gardener Gilbert Vahé. The work was made possible by donations from American and French patrons, from the Eure Departmental Council and, from 1980 onwards, the Claude Monet Foundation.
